We are very excited to introduce our new line of Beeswax Bowl Covers!
These bowl covers are made with one layer of a cotton-linen blend fabric and one layer of 100% muslin cotton. The muslin cotton is coated with a mixture of beeswax, pine resin, and jojoba oil. All three ingredients are sourced from retailers/farmers right here in British Columbia.
An alternative to plastic wrap, beeswax acts as a natural barrier keeping the natural moisture in and the outer environment moisture out. The cover is breathable so food can stay fresher for longer. Unlike beeswax wraps, these covers secure easily to your bowls with the use of an elastic. When fitted to the correct sized bowl, these covers have shown to be 100% waterproof.
Once you have finished using your cover, simply clean it by washing it in cold soapy water and letting it drip dry until you are ready to use it again. Beeswax covers are not suitable for storing raw meat or fish and are not oven or microwave-safe.
When you feel as though your beeswax cover has reached the end of its life (estimated lifespan is over a year with regular use), simply cut the elastic off and you can repurpose or compost the other fabric.
